Katie, our passionate business owner, photographer and designer, had a life-changing experience on an early morning drive to work. As she navigated the quiet streets, something unusual caught her eye in the middle of the road. As she got closer, her heart sank—it was a small Northern Saw-Whet Owl, one of Minnesota's tiniest and most vulnerable species. Realizing the danger it faced from oncoming traffic, she quickly pulled over, scooped up the fragile creature, and rushed it to a nearby wildlife rehabilitation center.
Sadly, it soon became clear that this beautiful bird would never be able to return to the wild due to a broken wing.
Despite the bittersweet outcome, Legit Local was born.
